MY WEEKLY ROUND UP #1 | Instagram Lifestyle

28 Apr 2015

Bloggers will agree that sometimes life thangs just get completely in the way of blogging, which seems to have dumped itself right into my lap this week & the week to come! Aswell as being an illustrator, blogger, online store admin, bartender and waitress, I also am a student! This time of year is a a pretty big deal for anyone taking a degree because it's when all those unwanted assignments are finally coming to an end, meaning = DEADLINE SEASON. I myself have a portfolio deadline in just a week and I am shaking to the bone just considering the thought of if I have enough work to submit, will it be good enough? will it get me a good grade? etc (because sadly you are judged on what you produce and the grade is more important than it should be, theres no hippy 'its not about the grade man it's about my love for the project' shite I normally preach about if you want a high degree) So yeah, I am a little busy and swept off my feet, meaning I haven't had much time to blog and I hate it! Instead of taking a day to edit my videos, film and put up blog posts I am instead trading it for sketchbooks and paint. It'll only be for this next week and I will be back to my normal self with so much more time to dedicate myself to heartshapedbones and my youtube channel! So atleast thats a speck of good news. With me barely having any time this week to sit down and create a juicy blog post, I have decided to jump on the instagram my weekly round up wagon because it's such a easy form of  talking what I have been doing with my life recently. I also post on instagram and it's the social platform I keep most updated with and am always on! If you don't already follow me, you can find me at @jessicalgutteridge (there are plenty of links in the side bar)

Forever Unique Fashion | #MYFU

8 Apr 2015

Hello there! Today I am sharing with you a package I was sent by the brand Forever Unique* and it is so beautiful! I am overly excited for summer already and receiving this piece of swimwear has made me even more giddy. Last Month they launched their second swimwear range and it is to die for, with a large mixture of bikinis, cover ups, swimsuits and other forms of beach wear to choose from. Yes ok, for someone like myself who shops on the high street and normally gets her swimwear from h&m, yes they can be a little pricey but you are paying for such good quality, along with a fresh sophisticated style that every woman should have. Nothing will make you feel more better about your body than wearing a beautiful swim suit or bikini.

The SPARK Bikini set*features a colourful embellishment of pastel jewels that gives a plain ivory piece such a unique style. I would not normally go for white but with the jewels it is so fitting, allowing the glow in my skin to pop out (making me even more excited to get a tan on my holiday) The bottoms have loose material that hangs over. It doesn't contrast with the top half yet balances out a unique piece of swim wear. (technique speak) there are pads in the bust that can be removed, along with anti slip rubber tape so you can feel confident when diving into the pool!

I cannot wait to dress this piece with a black tassel kimono & my big floppy sun hat! Thankyou so much for reading and definitely check out forever unique's spring range 2015.

Blue Vanilla Polka Dot Skirt | Dress up Fashion

Styling Blue Vanilla & Grains tee | Casual Fashion

2 Apr 2015

Hello Ello! For today's post I thought I would share with you a piece of must have clothing that was sent to me by Blue Vanilla * , which is currently having a 50% off Spring sale! Once receiving the skirt I started to wonder why I didn't have a statement polka dot piece already. It really is one of those items that you can dress either up or down, which I will be showing you in this two part installment post.
Blue Vanilla are a brand that keep up with the latest trends and they are eve on the bringing back the 70's train that is rolling in full speed! Their 70's lookbook is available to view here* , which gives me so much inspiration on how I can style similar pieces that I can't wait to bring out in warmer weather.

This polka dot check pleated skirt* is such a bargain at only £15! It comes in the most beautiful blue packaging, along with being such good quality. I have never had a mesh/sheer material skirt before but I love it! It feels sturdy yet looks floaty, which gives me the confidence that it won't go blowing up in the wind when I'm walking on one of my adventures. The mini skirt has an elastic waist line so if you're just a little bigger than small you'll still be able to wear it comfortably (that is considering you buy a small). My favourite feature is the shorts lining inside which I HAVE NEVER had before but all skirts should do the same! It makes me feel so much better about wearing a mini skirt and not having to worry about exposing any parts of me accidentally.

To dress down the look to make it casual I have paired it with my boyfriends band t-shirt, just because I have been wearing it to death for comfort.

Keep your eyes peeled for the second installment of dressing the skirt up & thankyou for reading.

Product Review: Bed Head Foxy Curls | Part 1

1 Apr 2015

Hello there! I've been thinking for days on a structure for this post, simply because I want to do it in two parts. Why I want to do this is because of the nature of how you can use this product, which can be applied to wet hair and also to add definition to curls when dry. See where I'm going now?
Hair Trade* so kindly sent me hair product by Bed head* to review and I was so incredibly excited to try it out. Bed Head Foxy Curls spray comes in this beautiful bottle, the mixture of purple and red attracting me straight away (who said it wasn't about looks?! I'm kidding) On spraying I found the product smelt so good, so I was eager to wet my hair and try it out. After showering where I applied both shampoo and conditioner to my hair, I also brushed my hair and towel dried it so my hair was left still a little damp. Considering I have used curling sprays before, I did my usual routine leading up to applying the product.
Whilst spraying all around the ends of my hair I almost did a crumpling motion with my hair, this always helping my hair form its natural curls (if I leave my hair to dry wet I come out with a curly afro) The spray didn't seem to grip to my curls and in fact kept my hair from curling. It formed instead a wave to each strand of my hair which gave me the 'just come out of the sea' look. It also left my hair feeling more dryer than it is without the product, so I felt slightly let down yet it could completely be the routine I did before hand.
The product when applied to wet hair did not work for me, which is why I want to next apply it to my hair when already curled, to see how it stays on and affects them when naturally curled and done with a curling iron.

I hope you found part 1 of this review helpful and keep your eyes peeled for part 2 which will be posted next week!
