Viking Arty Party Bloggers Craft Event #Vikingartyparty, Leeds

Sunday, 12 November 2017

This could be an unpopular opinion, but I am FRIGGIN MERRY FRILLED to be celebrating Christmas early and it's all thanks to Viking who kindly invited me to their crafty #vikingartyparty event! It was held in Leeds a city I love, so even though I didn't have a Christmas jumper on hand I found something red and got ready for a super festive crafting session which I definitely needed.

I warn you now, there are so many photographs in this post but who doesn't love a good event stalk! Viking really went all out, mulled wine, Christmasy style sandwiches, nibbles and then a giant Christmas tree in the corner with a bunch of presents next to it piled high. It definitely got me excited for the winter season despite it being October, but for the sake of not doing things too early I thought I'd wait till at least November to share this post with you guys!

Even though I crafted for my own business it was amazing to spend the day learning three new crafts; calligraphy, block print painting and advent calendar making! Everything was super fun and all the supplies from pens to paper we're from Viking and we got to take home everything we made. First up I tried my hand at some calligraphy, which was so much harder than I originally thought but we had an awesome tutor who walked us every step of the way! We got our very own ink pens and endless sheets of paper to experiment with, following the letters that we're examples and learning how to use the pens nib to our advantage! I loved it, my Christmas card sucked but I managed to do my name and I've never been so proud of myself. There was a bunch of different pens to try out and we we're taught so many techniques on how to really handle a brush pen. Since then I've been constantly trying them out at home to create my own text! I've even been using some of the pens we we're given to create illustrations and I just love how easy the  flow of the pen is to create different thickness of lines.

Next up we had a little go at block painting, which at first I thought was a way to create art prints but it was so much more fun! We started with our very own file holder which is of course from Viking; we did a little DIY to pop them together and got to work at creating our own stamps! The world was literally out oyster along as it was able to fit into a small square shape. I did something a little abstract with plans to add more at home, cutting out a lot of triangle shames and them stamping them in different directions on my file. I then later drew a floral pattern with a sharpie when I got home! I love how handy Viking made these craft tutorials, I now have a file that I use pretty much every day for my blogging needs.

Last but not least (I was so SO excited for this) we learnt how to make our very own advent calendars! Unlike the conventional black board calendars we create them out of crackers, learning how to make each one and them getting to work making as many as we can! Again Viking supplied all the things we need and we we're able to take so much home to complete more in our own time! I love how DIY/crafty this event was and I definitely have gotten so inspired for my Christmas this year. Everything from bunting to wall decor is going to be crafted by myself and I'm definitely making my very own advent calendar to hang across my fire place.

Despite me being a bag of nerves upon arrival I enjoyed myself so much! I loved how excited everyone was and how fun each crafting exercise was! The ladies hosting and also teaching each craft we're super lovely and it's definitely got me so pupped up to get Christmas started. I start to buy everyone gifts in November so I feel like Christmas has already started for me, I'm itching to get the decor up as this event was so festive I wanted to take it home with me.

Thank you so much all of the team over at Viking (so many thankyous for the amazing present you gave each of us!) I feel super organised with all my stationary to get crafting.

Until next time guys,
